Welcome to Mechagodzilla’s cockpit! Looks like APEX used the remaining Ghidorah skull and possibly even it’s brain as the internal components of Mechagodzilla. Also it looks like Ren Serizawa is the pilot!

The marketing is going all out now and the hype train is going full steam ahead!

Godzilla Vs Kong Trailer 1 and Full Breakdown

The first trailer for Godzilla Vs Kong has been released and it is amazing! Check it out below and I also have done our traditional full breakdown of the trailer looking out for all of the secrets. Don’t worry I’ll give a spoiler warning before talking about the big spoiler.

The first trailer for Godzilla Vs Kong has been released and it is amazing! Check it out below and I also have done our traditional full breakdown of the trailer looking out for all of the secrets. Don’t worry I’ll give a spoiler warning before talking about the big spoiler.

Wow they sure gave us a lot and also kept a ton of the movie secret. Hopefully this is the only trailer we get so we can keep most of the plot hidden. Well everyone let’s get to it:

1 Mountain Explosion.png

First off we have a mountainside exploding outwards and it is sending giant boulders flying into the city. There is a clue showing us what is causing this explosion but I’ll save that for later.

2 Kong Transport fleet.png

This is the first look we get at the fleet that has captured Kong and is escorting him somewhere. The teaser audio from the YouTube ads hints that they may be trying to use Kong to lure out Godzilla.

3 Human villain perhaps.png

This is Eiza Gonzalez’s character Maya Simmons. The trailer seems to be implying that she is a good guy but I think she may end up being our human villain. The way this shot is framed, she does not look very heroic.

4 Kong Napping.png

Kong taking a nap on his transport ship. Too much berry juice will do that to you.

5 WB Logo.png
6 Legendary Logo.png

Very cool dual logos with WB’s being Kong focused and Legendary’s being Godzilla. Also very interesting that the Kong paintings are in the style of Skull Island and Godzilla’s look more ancient.

7 Kong inspecting chains.png

Kong looks very unhappy as he inspects his bindings.

8 Alexander looking at Kong.png

Alexander Skarsgard plays Nathan Lind and appears to be the protagonist of the movie and looks to have some deep ties to Kong.

9 Girl who comunicates with Kong.png

Next up we have newcomer Kaylee Hottle as a Skull Island villager who has a special connection to Kong.

10 Kong Approaches with Axe.png

Look at my Kong doll!

11 Bonds.png

Looks like there’s gonna be a connection between the kid and Rebecca Hall’s Ilene Andrews.

12 Kong in Rainstorm.png

Kong chained up outside during the rain and the little girl comes out to try to calm him down.

13 Touching Kong.png
14 Touching Kong.png

Very sweet and tender moment and also the first shot of the trailer that is wallpaper worthy. The cinematography is beautiful.

15 Fear.png
15 Fear 2.png
15 Fear 3.png

The look of fear on all of the characters including Kong is great for setting up the tone.

16 Kings arrival.png
17 No more ship.png
17 No more ship 2.png

A king’s arrival is never silent and Godzilla’s entrance into the trailer is definitely loud. Godzilla slices a ship in half with his dorsal plates and doesn’t seem to care. Godzilla seems to be in a bad mood and unlike the previous films in the Monsterverse seems to be taking an antagonistic role.

18 Missiles do nothing.png

Missiles do nothing to stop him.

19 Taking out jets.png

Godzilla takes out one of the jets with his tail. He really is attacking the humans this time.

20 a challenge.png
21 Croc Lunge.png

Kong roars at the water angrily and Godzilla pops out like a crocodile attacking it’s prey. As a note Kong is still chained up here and has not moved onto the aircraft carrier.

22 Onto the aircraft carrier.png
23 Daylight details.png

Believe it or not this is going to be Godzilla’s first fight in the day in the entire Monsterverse so far. It really shows off how detailed the CG model is and looks amazing. Also we are seeing a return to the Gareth Edwards style from 2014 with a shot looking up at the Titans from the deck of the ship.

24 Winding up.png
25 The Punch.png
25 The Punch 2.png

Look everyone it’s the banner image! All joking aside this punch has an amazing sense of scale and weight to it!

26 Shoulder check.png
26 Shoulder check 2.png

Kong shoulder checks Godzilla off of the aircraft carrier but that quickly back fires for kong.

27 Underwater breath.png

Godzilla goes under the carrier and charges up his breath attack.

28 Die Hard.png
29 Beam to the sky.png

Kong does his best John McClane impression and jumps off the carrier in the nick of time.

30 Wading through the destruction.png

Godzilla swims away from the wrecked fleet.

31 Serizawa and Spoiler.png

Here we have Shun Oguri playing Ren Serizawa, the son of Ken Watanabe’s character who sacrificed himself to save Godzilla in King of the Monsters. Behind him is something very interesting but I’ll save that for the spoiler section.

32 Godzilla in Hong Kong.png

This may end up being one of the most beautiful shots in the entire Monsterverse. Godzilla roars surrounded by the skyline of Hong Kong with it’s neon lights.

33 Kyle Chandler is back Florida is gone.png

Kyle Chandler returns as Mark Russell and is commenting on how weird it is that Godzilla is hurting people. Also the news item on the screen is super important as it mentions Godzilla has destroyed Pensacola, Fl and destroyed the APEX plant there. What’s APEX? Tune into the spoiler section to find out.

34 God of Destruction.png
34 God of Destruction 2.png

Never thought I’d see Legendary Godzilla going full rampage but man oh man does it look great.

35 Conspiracy Board.png

Ok there is a lot to unpack in this image but the basics are that Godzilla seems to be going around the world and attacking places with an APEX facility. I think that this is the conspiacy board of Julian Dennison’s character.

36 The van.png

I love that Millie Bobby Brown is going to be driving a storm chaser vehicle after the Titans.

Speaking of Julian and Mille, here are their characters Josh Valentine and Madison Russel driving the van. She still seems to be on team Godzilla and suspects something is agitating him that noone knows about. Maybe he’s not really a villain after all.

38 Guy believes in Goji too.png

Brian Tyree Henry plays Bernie Hayes and it seems like he believes Maddison’s story.

39 Kong in Hollow Earth.png

Kong surveying Skull Island. I thought this was the Hollow Earth at first but it has a sky.

40 Hand marking.png

Kong finds a hand print made by one of his ancestors deep in the Hollow Earth.

41 Kong looks soo good.png

The level of detail on Kong in this shot is insane! Also check out the futuristic vehicle in the background! Looks like the H.E.A.V. (Hollow Earth Antigravity Vehicle) from the toys!

42 Kong with axe.png

Kong raises his battle axe and roars! The axe handle glows red and the blade…well we’ll get there.

43 Kong Vs Warbat.png

Kong fights the Warbats inside the Hollow Earth!

44 Morning Stand off.png
44 Morning Stand off 2.png

Kong and Godzilla have a stand off at dawn. Could this be after the Hong Kong battle?

45 Bats.png

Some sort of weird bat Titan down in the Hollow Earth. Maybe they are related to Camazotz?

46 Kong on glowing Goji.png

Kong seems to be standing on a glowing ancient carving of Godzilla while he fights off the bat Titans.

47 Hammerfist.png

Godzilla gets hammer fisted by Kong and pushed back.

48 Upset Alex.png

Nathan doesn’t look so good here. He’s also wearing something that looks like a pilot suit.

49 Kong Rush.png
50 Kong hopping off building.png

Kong rushes at Goji with his axe glowing blue like Godzilla’s dorsal plates.

51 Block.png
52 Kong roar.png
53 smack.png

Whoa Kong catches Godzilla’s breath weapon with the axe and smashes it into Godzilla’s face! This is definitely the thing that will give Kong an edge over Godzilla in the final fight.

Who are you rooting for in this fight?

MechaG.png

The opening shot of the trailer shows a mountain exploading but it’s so dusty you really can’t see the cause until this blink and you’ll miss it glimspe of our bigger threat of the film. MechaGodzilla is here folks and it looks like the mechanical Titan does not care about collateral damage.

31 Serizawa and Spoiler.png

The second glimpse of Mechagodzilla is actually a bit more obvious. If you look behin Ren Serizawa you can clearly see the blueprints of Mechagodzilla with some text that appears to say “Fury Systems: Maximum Charge.”

35 Conspiracy Board.png

Now it’s time to talk about APEX Cybernetics. With a name like that you know that they are behind the construction of Mechagodzilla but what is unknown at this time is their motivations. As we saw in the brief second of actual Mechagodzilla footage, MechaG doesn’t seem to care about human death which leads me to believe APEX wants to destroy the Titans no matter what. Godzilla also seems to be attracted to APEX sites across the globe which is very interesting. I wonder if the Godzilla that is destroying cities is actually MechaG in disguise?

This been a wild morning of research and deep diving but thanks to one of our Discord members it looks like a new viral marketing site has been revealed!

UPDATE 1/18/21 - The twitter account has come out as fan made. The website however is still owned by Warner Bros and may still be a viral marketing site for GvK. Original article follows.

CStafford on the Tokyo Lives Discord server noticed some suspicious activity on a seemingly unconnected Twitter account this morning:

A possible hint of GvK marketing coming up: a Twitter account titled "WPKW26 News" just started following pretty much every official Legendary and official Godzilla Twitter account, which is significant because the website for that account (http://www.wpkw26.com/) is owned by WB, and is showing some trademark stuff for 2014. There isn't anything on that website yet, but it could be a part of the GvK marketing push, an ARG that looks like a news website with articles about the Titans and such

After looking into this further the twitter account WPKW26 was set up last June which would line up with a viral marketing strategy for a November release. Also if you search WPKW26 on Youtube you get search results for Godzilla and Kong without there being any direct connection.

The nail in the coffin actually comes from the credits of Godzilla King of the Monsters!

Look at the website on the right side

szah89gi8og31.jpg

The fact that the news site has already appeared in the MonsterVerse makes this no longer a coincidence and now an actual fact.

The biggest thing to note about all of this is that the follows of the official Twitter accounts happened very recently which may hint that the viral marketing could be about to kick off! Get excited G-Fans!

Godzilla Vs Kong - Did Legendary Just Tease The Trailer Release Date?

Legendary pictures just updated their Facebook with a new banner image that may give us a tease of when to expect the first trailer for the hotly anticipated Godzilla Vs Kong.

Screenshot_2020-12-02 b35b14ba4226a76c633ea1d26e03f365 (WEBP Image, 1920 × 1280 pixels) — Scaled (78%).jpg

Legendary pictures just updated their Facebook with a new banner image that may give us a tease of when to expect the first trailer for the hotly anticipated Godzilla Vs Kong.

Fans who follow Legendary on Facebook were treated to an interesting surprise when they uploaded this new banner image:

129539787_3475103086049035_7429822106687679241_n.jpg

On the Christmas tag on the right side of the image you can clearly see a Godzilla footprint. What is interesting about this is there are no other teases on this image for any other upcoming movies from Legendary. Wonder Woman 84 comes out on Christmas day and that would be the perfect time/place to release the first trailer for GvK. Is this a real tease or just an innocent reference to one of Legendary/Warner Bros.’ biggest upcoming films? Well the plot thickens because shortly after that first image was posted they changed their banner once again:

129459895_684382205594589_4513264245520976288_n.jpg

Okay so the foot print has been replaced with a different symbol which still kind of looks like a footprint. Wait a minute I recognize the footprint from the first picture!

128784219_426788685362907_7778845486871651021_n.jpg

That’s just the teaser footprint from the beginning of the Shin Godzilla marketing! Also the new footprint actually matches the Godzilla King of the Monsters foot design better.

I have a theory, the first image was a mock-up image that wasn’t supposed to be posted. They used the ShinGoji footprint image as a test. They then made one modeled after KotM as the real image and the social media guy must have posted the wrong one. This is really the only thing that makes sense and still leaves us with a potential trailer release window of December 25th.

What do you all think?

Hello everyone! San Diego Comic-Con 2017 got started yesterday and while we haven't gotten our big Hall H panel which may reveal some Monsterverse goodies (keep an eye on the site on Saturday) we have been given quite a few cool Giant Monster things from the show floor and beyond. This includes several toy/collectible announcements, a "Kong: Skull Island experience", and of course a bunch of Pacific Rim: Uprising details including a short teaser trailer.

'Pacific Rim: Uprising' Teaser Trailer and Viral Site launched!

It was announced via the director's twitter account a couple days ago that we would not be getting a full trailer for 'Pacific Rim: Uprising' at Comic-Con due to the film not being in a state that it is ready to show off footage but what he didn't say is that we would be getting a lot of new info. First gift we received is a recruitment style video for the Jaeger program that shows off some of the new Jaegers and our first footage of John Boyega as Pentecost's son Jake.

The viral marketing site gojaeger.com was launched alongside the trailer and it includes some intriguing details on all of the new Jaegers. Check each of them out below.

GIPSY AVENGER

Gipsy Avenger honors the heroic legacy of her namesake as the flagship leader of the Mark VI fleet. More than just a Jaeger, she is a symbol of hope to millions.
BRACER PHOENIX

A Mark V brute that can still run with the VI’s, Bracer Phoenix shoots from the chest, with a centrifugal vortex cannon that is as spectacular as it is deadly.

SABER ATHENA

The sleekest and most elegant Jaeger ever created, Saber Athena is the fastest in the fleet, wielding twin blades in hyper-acrobatic combat.

TITAN REDEEMER

Built for brute force and armed with a seismic morningstar, Titan Redeemer is the walking wrecking ball of the new fleet.

GUARDIAN BRAVO

Designed for combat at range, Guardian Bravo wields the Elec-16 Arc Whip: a proto-metallic successor to the chainsword, and brings a new sophistication to the chainsword’s whiplash move.

'Kong: Skull Island' Experience

There is a really interesting walk through experience happening with Kong at the convention as well. Now there aren't many details about this as of yet but it does seem like it is similar to the Godzilla experience back at 2013's Comic-Con (maybe not on the same scale but still). No footage of this exists as of yet but it looks like Legendary has hidden Monarch crates and stuff within the experience and if enough photos get uploaded a "classified" photo will be released to the public. Now this photo could be anything from hints to Godzilla 2 or just some nifty Skull Island goodies but it is definitely worth keeping an eye on.

'Godzilla Vs Kong' Director Talks!

Fan Poster

Adam Wingard, the director of Godzilla Vs Kong, gave a few details about the upcoming film in a couple of recent interviews for Death Note. IGN and Birth Movies Death have the scoops, but here are some notable quotes:

"It's been a pleasure already in the first stages of it, having an excuse to go back and watch 30 Godzilla movies and justifying it to yourself. For me, it's about taking the series to the next level."

When asked about the similarities in the way both the monster films as well as Death Note deal in shades of grey, Wingard continued, "I think they're very similar in a lot of ways. It's easy to demonize Godzilla on one hand, but I have a lot of emotional attachment to both monsters." In regards to the size difference between the two beasts, Wingard added, "They gave us a good out in Kong when they mentioned that Kong is still growing, but that'll be a challenge we have to deal with, and we're very aware of that issue." - IGN

“It’s funny—the day I had my first meeting scheduled with Terry Rossio, the writer on Godzilla vs. Kong, was the day it was announced that Lord and Miller got fired, so that was kind of an eye-opening moment,” Wingard says. “I mean, you hear—especially within the industry—a lot of rumors about directors who have silently been replaced, or the movies have been reshot by other directors because the producers were unhappy with them, and things like that. But firing them was a completely different situation.

“Ultimately, I don’t think it affects me that much,” he continues. “The most important thing when you’re making this type of film is that it’s not about pushing against authority; it’s about everybody getting on the same page. When you’re doing anything that involves a lot of money, it should not be an ‘us vs. them’ kind of thing, and as soon as you start treating it that way, it becomes that way. But as long as you’re open to ideas when they come—and sometimes they’re good and sometimes you have to push back—it’s just about being able to communicate.”

On Death Note, which had many producers and a lot of oversight on it, I felt like I was 100 percent able to make the movie I wanted to make,” he states. “The reason for that was because I was able to communicate with everybody involved, and we were all making the same film, you know? That’s the most important factor.”

He also sheds some light on the Godzilla vs. Kong scripting process, which involved a “writers’ room” consisting of Patrick McKay, J.D. Payne, Lindsey Beer, Cat Vasko, T.S. Nowlin, Jack Paglen and J. Michael Straczynski. “Terry ran the writers’ room,” Wingard explains, “so he’s the personification of it, and everything we’re working on is first and foremost based on the outline they created there. We’re going in very great detail through all the characters, the arcs they have, how they relate to one another, and most importantly how they relate to the monsters, and how the monsters relate to them or reflect them. We’re also going beat by beat on the outline, because I have things that I want to add.

“So once again, it’s a discussion, and about feeling out how to make it as strong as possible, so that when Terry goes to write the screenplay, he has a definitive breakdown of what to include. He’s not the type of guy who wants to be handed a bunch of problems to solve, you know? He wants to be able to have a good creative flow based on an outline that works.” - BirthMoviesDeath

New Company Providing Godzilla and Kong Collectibles!

Chronicle collectibles has gotten the license to produce high quality statues of the Monsterverse! This company does really good work but their items are a little pricey. Check out the T-rex and Indominus Rex they are releasing!

Look how cool they look! I expect great things from their Monsterverse line when they reveal them!

This is a crazy time for us giant monster fans and I hope to see a lot more goodies on Saturday during the Warner Bros./Legendary Hall H presentation!

Analysis Complete - Kong: King of the Apes Season 1

Hello travelers and welcome to the first ever Analysis Complete! I hope your vessels are sea worthy because it's time for the first special report of Kong Month. Actually, scrap the vessels regardless of sea worthiness, because unlike every other version of Kong, this king is land locked.

Hello travelers and welcome to the first ever Analysis Complete! I hope your vessels are sea worthy because it's time for the first special report of Kong Month. Actually, scrap the vessels regardless of sea worthiness, because unlike every other version of Kong, this king is land locked.

Kong: King of the Apes is a Netflix original animated series that was released in April of 2016. Season one is made up of 13 episodes, using 3D models, and follows a “problem of the week” narrative structure. Set in the year 2050, the main plot of this show focuses on Kong and his band of environmentally conscious friends duking it out with an evil scientist and his army of robotic dinosaurs.

Spoilers from here on out!

The Above Picture is Deeply Inaccurate...

The Good:

  • Environmental Messages: I really like that it seems the writing staff were all fans of Captain Planet growing up. Not an episode goes by without at least one ham-fisted message about protecting the environment and protecting wildlife. This is a pretty common theme with Toho's kaiju films, so it's nice to see it here. Also I support any media aimed at kids that tries to get them to love nature.
  • Diverse Cast: Okay this is stretching it a bit. There are two Spanish speakers (...but one is the family maid) and a brother and sister of Chinese-American descent, though the brother is a huge missed opportunity. Oh, and they have an African-American guy who wants to bang a robot lady. Finally, robosexuals getting some screen time in a kids show. Speaking of banging robots...
  • Strangely Attractive Robot Dominatrix: This is a kids show right? What's happening here? Her name is Botila, which, I think they only do to set up one Godzilla reference in the later half of the show. Also there is a weird relationship between her and the main villain of the show who built her. Why am I having these feelings?  Is this Stockholm Syndrome?

  • The “Bionobot” Opponents: Richard, the evil brother, has an affinity for long dead creatures (mostly) and has created a fleet of pretty cool looking robot dinosaurs. Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops, Pterodactyls, a few Megalodon, and a Giant robotic squid. While I do like the designs, I have to stress that they copy and paste the models all over making the impact of these monsters run thin pretty quickly.

The Bad:

  • Overuse of Iconic Scenes: Every episode, and I mean every single one, has a reference to Kong hanging off of the Empire State Building. The thing is, this show takes place in San Francisco and on “Kong Island” which is just a re-purposed Alcatraz. The animators seem to only vaguely remember the 1933 movie and went off of that for the character actions of Kong.
  • Everything about this Kong is Wrong: In the first episode Kong manages to speak (saying “Kong!” in response to what his name should be), then reverts to just monkey noises for the rest of the season. He grows in weird spurts that look like the animators randomly resized the model. His face is way too cute even though he's supposed to be frightening.

  • “Problem of the Week" is Weak: I can't understand how they missed the opportunity to make this a “Monster of the Week” show. You have an evil scientist who can build robot versions of dinosaurs, clone dead animals, and fit living animals with control collars It really must come down to budget, and that's a real shame.

  • Pretty Much Everything About the Animation After the First Episode:They use the same models, but Kong has a weird glide to him every time he runs and character models never directly interact leaving moments where people hover just above Kong's body. Mouths flap with little regard for what the characters are saying.
  • Evil Brother is Evil Because...why?: The brother seems to have no real reason for being evil outside of the need for a villain. I don't need a complex layered antagonist, just some basic rational. Kid's aren't dumb, they can pick up on things if you put them there.
  • The Animal Whisperer: Danny Quon, arguably the replacement main character after the first episode, is welcomed onto the team as a “certified animal whisperer”. This is ridiculous for so many reasons, but I'm going to stick to three.

  1. That's not a real thing
  2. Everyone can already understand Kong and Kong can understand them.

  3. This one is more personal, but what a waste. If they wanted to have someone talk with Kong, why not have Danny teach Kong sign language. They are pushing an environmental angle and trying to have an inclusive cast of characters that speak different languages, so it would have been nice to have one more positive, inclusive message (and a reference to Koko the gorilla would have been nice for the kiddos).

  • The Intro: In my 29 years on this planet I have never seen a lazier intro. It's a hyper cut of the very first episode with some of the show's low key background music. I've never seen a show skip out on the bear minimum of a intro credit song but we don't even get that.

The Weird:

  • This Series is a Sisyphean Nightmare: Every episode ends with a character saying that something is going to change, but at the intro of the next episode all character progress is forgotten. But, no one has it worse than Botila, the Robot Dominatrix. At the mid-way point the writers decide that the show should have her turn on Richard. They keep flirting with this idea over and over, ending each episode with a sequence where she says that she's going to do something about him. Then she's just back into the fold at the start of the next episode. To be fair, they do have one episode where she takes over Richard's evil empire, but they roll that back by the end of the day.
  • Achievement Unlocked: As each episode plays you unlock these “Power Ups” that allow you to watch post-credit fight between Kong and an antagonist. These work like achievements in video games. If you get through the full episode, you get to unlock a special video with the power ups. I actually kinda like this gimmick? I would be down to see this in other Netflix shows, but instead of just a fight sequence maybe have it be tiny “Making Of” videos for the episode.

  • Kong's Bevy of Merchandise Based Technology: While, to this point in time, there is no Kong: King of the Apes merch (other than some children's pajamas) it is pretty clear that the show was built to sell Kong toys and peripheral attachments. Over the course of the show Kong goes through several tech upgrades including: Laser proof wrist bracelets, a helicopter harness, a Jet pack, and an Invisibility cloak. I know this is just how kid's shows make money, but it comes off as poorly thought out when you see Kong (who is supposed to have the intelligence of a 3 year old) zooming around on a jet pack.

Final Thoughts:

So that's the show, a lazy poorly thought out mess. I'm having a hard time recommending it to anyone as it's not a good show, or even bad enough to be funny. As a kid's show it's visually entertaining enough to keep younger viewers distracted, so maybe it would work if you are a baby sitter taking a smoke break? I'm sure there are better ways to spend 7 and a half hours of your life, like watching any other Kong cartoons...

This has been Analysis Complete, and next time, we will be going back in time to the far off year of 2000.

'Kong: Skull Island' - 4 New TV Spots Introduce Us to a Bunch of New Footage

Yesterday was a literal minefield of Giant monster news! Probably my most anticipated film of the year, 'Kong:Skull Island' got 4 30 second TV spots to really kick the marketing into high gear. These things are filled to the brim with new footage and include some of the good old universe building movies are so fond of these days. That's enough teasing! It's time to take a look and breakdown some of the cooler things seen in the Spots.

I love seeing the softer side of Kong at the beginning of this spot. Most of the footage in this one is repeat footage from the trailers but there are a couple of really cool stand out moments.

There seems to be a giant octopus that is attacking Kong which may be the film calling back to one of the more famous sequences in 'King Kong vs Godzilla' (more on that later).

Also the really beautiful shot of Kong standing in the afternoon sun is back and it is just as amazing as it was before.

The lines of dialogue at the end of this Spot are super interesting since it gives a couple of tiny plot details. It looks like Sam Jackson is out to kill Kong and Tom Hiddleston is out to save him. This could lead to some really awesome human drama in the film itself. It also appears that they try to capture Kong at some point.

Finally, Brie Larson doesn't look too good in this last shot. Maybe Kong saves her from the octopus? Onto to the next one!

Now this one made me freak out at the beginning! We all wondered how open they were going to be about this film being attached to 'Godzilla (2014)' and I think this one shows we are in for some nice treats.

"The 1954 tests were not tests they were trying to kill something!" Man I hope we get to see the same footage of the bomb going off with Godzilla rising that we saw in 2014! It would be great if John Goodman had that footage and we briefly see Godzilla in 'Kong: Skull Island'. Even just a tiny second of him would get the general audiences riled up!

It really looks like Kong is going to be jumping around a lot when he fights and using the momentum to make his hits even stronger . This will come in hand when he comes up against the King of the Monsters in 2020.

The Skull Crawler have Yoshi tongues!? That's awesome!

And finally it's the big confrontation moment! 2 down 2 to go!

"We came here looking for a dragon." Wait did they come to Skull Island in search of Godzilla?! This line plus the little bit in the other Spot makes it seem like they were actually thinking Godzilla came and hid on Skull Island after the Nuclear tests. There's also an  awesome shot of Kong swinging a tree like a baseball bat and hitting the Skull Crawler in the face. Unfortunately there is not a high resolution enough version to get a good screenshot. Let's move onto the final one!

More of the same really but there are a couple stand out moments.

Looks like Kong is in trouble! He is definitely chained in this picture and the Skull Crawler is taking advantage of his enemies weakness. The humans seem to be firing at the Crawler so at least he seems to have a bit of help.

Well that's all of them! Did you enjoy them? Are you on the hype train along with me? Do you think little hints towards 'Godzilla (2014)' are going to be enough or do they need to show Godzilla in the film in some way?

'Kong: Skull Island' - Trailer #2 Breakdown

So I completely got bogged down with work back when the comic-con trailer for 'Kong: Skull Island' dropped and was unable to get a trailer breakdown out to you folks quickly enough. Luckily I can make up for it by breaking down the latest exciting trailer and giving my predictions about the film. Let's do this guys!

First off we get a good look at the set-up of the film. It seems like they may be borrowing some from the 1976 Kong in that these people seem to be on some sort of survey mission. I do really like the design of the island as it does really evoke a skull without being completely over the top.

So this is the first of many repeat shots from the original trailer but it is a very important one. It looks like they are suggesting that Skull Island is constantly hidden behind a hurricane and the viral marketing via discoverskullisland.com further confirms that idea. I think it's actually a way more interesting idea than the usual "hidden in perpetual fog" since if I were a ship captain I would more likely avoid this giant storm system.

Really cool shot of the bombs exploding being reflected in this dude's glasses. This movie is extremely well shot and is oozing with personality in every frame. I really dig it. I like the idea that they piss Kong off by dropping these survey bombs. Probably not the best idea guys.

"Is that a monkey?" is probably the funniest line in the whole trailer and is extremely well timed. Not a huge Toby Kebbell fan but no one can deny the greatness of this line of dialogue.

Now it's time for the shot from the EW interview earlier this week. I'm really impressed with how much they were able to sneak the '33 Kong's design in there but there are definitely elements of '76 Kong and maybe even a little Toho Kong in there too. Very impressive design work.

This shot looks almost directly ripped from 'King Kong Lives' which could be a good or bad thing. Needless to say I think that the people in this chopper are the dead soldiers that John Goodman talks about later on in the trailer.when Kong gets mad there are few survivors.

Once again this film impresses with its visuals! I think that this shot directly connects to the Kong on fire shot and is definitely from the climax of the film. It seems like Samuel L. Jackson is the human antagonist and takes the death of his men by Kong very seriously.

A better look at the outside of the village in which the group of heroes is threatened by the villagers with spears. As far as we can see it seems that these villagers on Skull Island have no giant wall protecting them and they live in harmony with Kong. The yellow design on the ruins is pretty cool and matches the outfits the villagers are wearing. Is it a language or just cool design?

And its time to introduce the most controversial person in this trailer! John C. Reilly is playing what appears to be a WWII fighter pilot that crashed landed on Skull Island and has been living there for quite some time. He may be a little crazy (ala Lawrenc Fishburne's character in Predators) which would explain his humor and general disconnect from all of the other characters we have seen thus far. Most people have been saying this is a huge tone shift but I just think we are seeing a very small piece of this character and he won't be jokes all of the time.

Very very interesting imagery here! Why just make a mural when we can paint a bunch of different pillars to form Kong's face once we pan around. Not very practical but on the other hand it is very cool.

The hero shot! Judging from the information given in both of the trailers it really seems like the group of people from the ship get split up at some point and with Sam Jackson being the villain I assume most of the military guys get roped onto his side.

The Shadow of the Colossus shot as I have come to call it. I love that wemay see some just day in the life of Kong stuff instead of Kong always being in kill everyone mode. We rarely get to see the monsters just living their day to day lives. You also get a good glimpse of his massive size here. While he still may not be Godzilla size he is definitely on his way there.

Look at those back muscles! I love Peter Jackson's realistic Kong but there is something so right about seeing an upright Kong.

"You don't go into some's house and start dropping bombs unless your picking a fight!"
This dialogue really establishes that Kong is going to be more of an Anti-hero in this film instead of the out right villain. In the past we have felt bad for Kong but it seems they are really trying to make us root for him.

The lair of the Skull Crawlers seems to be filled with various skeletons and overall just seems like a very bad place. I'm guessing one of the scientifc devices from earlier caused the tunnel to become exposed.

I'm really guessing that these may be Kong's parents that were killed by the Skull Crawlers. Also I think this gives us a good glimpse at how big fully grown Kong will be. These skeletons have got to be close to 250 feet long at least which while not Godzilla's size would be a good size to fight him.

Our first glimpse of the Skull Crawlers is tinged with a strange blue light and the creature itself seems to be glowing. Some sort of crazy ability? A beam weapon like Godzilla's breath?

The Skull Crawlers have a very interesting design that reminds me of Clover and the MUTOs in the way that they move. I do like that they are like serpents with only front legs though.

A more interesting design choice is their eyes being so far back on their head. Also they've got some really gnarly teeth going on there.

We know that this film is not going to follow the traditional Kong story but its nice to see that they are going to make some sort of reference to the Kong being entralled with a girl aspect. I just hope they don't go too far like '76 Kong did.

Here we have this crazy cool giant Ox coming out of the water. I like that we are seeing more of the Ecosystem of the island and how it can maintain such large predators like th Skull Crawlers and Kong.

Definitely from the Climax of the film and is most likely the moment where Sam Jackson realizes that he's fighting on the wrong side. This most likely is his death scene.

If you ever wanted to see Kong really mad all you need to do is set him on fire. Once again I love the imagery on display here.

Ah the iconic chest beating scene. You really get a good look at his brown fur here...which I really like. It furthers him from a normal gorrilla which helps him feel like his own species.

Is that Kumongra?! Nah, but it is a cool giant spider that we saw in the first trailer as well.

Nice to see John C. Reily is going to kick ass as well. It is interesting that the heroes have seemingly met back up with the military guys here. Maybe once the Skull Crawlers attack shit just hits the fan and causes everyone to work together? I also wonder if John C. Reily's character was the one we saw fighting a guy on the top of th mountain in the first trailer. Maybe it'll be a flashback showing when he crash landed on the island.

When did I put in 'Platoon'?!

I'm guessing this is some sort of Queen/Alpha Skull Crawler that will be Kong's final enemy in the film. It's interesting because all of the ones seen in the Skeleton graveyard seem to be pretty small. I think this may be the same one that was stalking towards Sam Jackson earlier. Also I am loving the skull look of their heads.

A really good look a Kong's scale in comparison to the humans.

We also get a glimpse at this crazy bug thing that seems to use a log as a hiding place. Very cool and is really adding to the ecosystem of Skull Island. I think it is very likly that they will rename the island Monster Island by the end of 'Kong vs Godzilla' which would be a pretty cool reference to the Toho films.

Well that guy is dead! The Skull Crawlers definitely have a unique way of moving around and it will be interesting to see Kong fight these slithering beasties.

Chest beat number two and this time it's to the drumbeat of the song. I love it when trailers do that!

Slightly new logo design with elements taken from the villager's ruins.

And finally one las shot of the Skull Crawler charging toward the screen after a horribly edited piece of dialogue from John C. Reily. Really can see the skull on the outside of their faces from the front.

Did you enjoy the trailer? What do you think of the Skull Crawlers? Did the tone of the new trailer scare you away from the final film?

Today has been a super eventful day in the marketing of the new Kong film and I am extremely happy to share with you the full theatrical trailer for the film as well as a brand new poster! Check them out!

That is one sexy looking poster! I am a huge fan of the minimalist approach to it and it is definitely a poster that will catch peoples eyes as they walk by. But now time for the thing you have all been waiting for!

Wow...there is so much to talk bout in this trailer I don't even know where to begin. It's great that they really aren't shying away from showing Kong himself and even gave us a good look at the villain Kaiju of the film: The Skull Crawlers. This trailer has so much stuff to talk about in it that I will definitely be doing a full trailer breakdown and posting it up onto the site ASAP (I promise I actually will do it this time).

What did you think of the trailer? Are you excited to see this completely new take on the King Kong story?
