Luckily there isn’t much brand new footage for you spoilerphobic people out there. Most of this stuff is from the TV Spots with sprinklings of new footage. I will definitely be posting the full breakdown later today when I find a higher res trailer.

'Godzilla: King of the Monsters' TV Spots "Ghidorah", "Monster," and "Balance" - Highest Quality and Breakdowns

Another day, another bunch of TV Spots. This time there isn’t a ton of new footage but the stuff here is amazing and one of the spots just might give us a better clue on some story elements for the human characters. Check them all out!

Another day, another bunch of TV Spots. This time there isn’t a ton of new footage but the stuff here is amazing and one of them just might give us a better clue on some story elements for the human characters. Check them all out!

Alright so as per usual I’m gonna breakdown the new stuff that we got from these 30 second trailers. Let’s star off with the one titled Ghidorah.

Godzilla and Ghidorah are all sorts of tangled up during this quick glimpse of one of their fights. These are the battle scenes I am most excited for since it looks like they are going to pull off some choreography that people in suits are unable to do. I do want to address the gonorrhea joke really quick. Is it dumb? Yes. Is it going to ruin the movie? No.

Godzilla roaring in the antarctic. I think this might be right as the first Godzilla Vs Ghidorah fight begins in the Antarctic.

Rodan and Mothra having a dogfight. This shot was actually in trailer two but with Rodan removed. Sneaky sneaky.

Okay so it seems like they really aren’t trying to hide Burning/Fire Godzilla any more. We have no context for why Godzilla gets powered up in this movie but between this shot, the brief glimpse in trailer two, and the final shot of the IMAX preview in front of ‘Shazam!’we know it’s going to happen.

By far the best scene to come out of all three of the TV Spots we got today. Man Godzilla’s breath really does seem like it’s gotten one hell of an upgrade. I love it!

Onward onto “Monster”:

Starts off with another part of Vera’s speech. Millie Bobby Brown’s character Madison does not seem to agree with what s being said.

“This isn’t the way! You said you were gonna be careful, that you’d restore balance.” Madison is yelling at her mom. This leads me to believe that Vera’s character may have tricked Madison into going along with waking up all of the Titans. Madison probably realized how stupid of an idea this was after Ghidorah has been awakened and is on the way to destroying the world.

Nice shot of Charles Dance looking smug and evil. Vera working for or with him?

Pulled straight from the IMAX sneak peek. Rodan is really channeling his inner Giant Claw in this shot.

Not much in the TV spot “Balance” but let’s take a quick look anyway:

Rodan comes out of his barrel roll. I just screenshot this because he looks awesome.

Brief new glimpse of Ghidorah which I really didn’t think anything of at first. Then I noticed that Ghidorah is missing his left head!

Finally we get a quick shot that definitely takes place during whatever the Mothra Larva shot in the last TV spot was. Note the red lighting.

Well that’s it for these new spots! What did you think about them?

'Godzilla: King of the Monsters' TV Spots 'Run' and 'Beautiful v2' - Highest Quality and Breakdowns

You know who it is! Last night there were a couple of surprise new TV Spots that aired and they actually gave quite a few more quick looks at the film. This is not an April Fools joke I promise.

You know who it is! Last night there were a couple of surprise new TV Spots that aired and they actually gave quite a few more quick looks at the film. This is not an April Fools joke I promise.

This one is titled ‘Run’:

And this one is a shortened ‘Beautiful’ TV Spot with a few new shots:

Man Legendary is doing a bang up job showing the scale of this conflict. Unlike the last breakdown where I went through every minute detail of the TV Spot, this time I will be focusing only on the brand new content.

Let’s start off with ‘Run’:

This is the lead up shot to Godzilla firing off his call to arms beam. I love having a Godzilla with personality again.

This is the first shot that was actually part of the exclusive footage shown at Wondercon. Vera Farmiga’s character sets off a series of bombs in the antarctic to awaken Ghidorah. Now why would she want to go and do that?

Madison is running towards the Mothra Larva who doesn’t seem as peaceful as in the other trailers. Looks like something may have upset her (notice that the lighting is very different from every other shot of the Larva).

This is probably one of the best Rodan silhouette shots we have gotten from these trailers and it goes by super fast (hence the image being a bit blurry). We have talked about our love for this design to death but there is no denying how perfect he looks.

So it seems the official number of known titans is seventeen. This matches pretty closely with the amount of locked Monarch sites on the viral marketing website. Wonder how many we will get glimpses of in the film?

The next two shots are from the exclusive Wondercon footage and this one is of Ghidorah awakening. You really get a good look at how long his necks really are in this shot.

Ok so apparently Ghidorah is gonna get all of the amazing wallpaper worthy scenes in the film. Ghidorah seems to be pulling in the electrical energy from all around him and shooting it out of his wing tips. You can spot Godzilla get blasted away by this attack as well. Last thing to note about this is that is definitely Boston so this is from the climax.

So there are a couple of things to notice here. The first and most obvious is the map with all of the Monarch sites flashing on the left. Are all of the Titans waking up? On the right you can see the amazing scene of Ghidorah roaring on the top of the volcano. Little bit of trailer trickery here shows that Rodan is flying around Ghidorah in this trailer. They may be pulling a Marvel and slightly editing some shots to keep us guessing. The trailer implies that this is where Charles Dance’s character says his “Long Live the King!” line. If you recall I called that he was talking about Ghidorah way back in the Trailer 1 breakdown.

Man I love when they show off giant monsters roaring in environments where there are particulates flying around. Really shows the power of the air coming from mouths.

It’s interesting that this shot is flipped from when it showed up back in trailer two. Wonder which one will be in the finished film.

Ladies and gentlemen the Devil with Three Heads. Enough said.

First real scene of the physical battle between Godzilla and Ghidorah. This is the kind of stuff I am most interested to see in this film since there is no longer the motion limitation of suits.

Godzilla seems to really show off his beam in this film after only using it twice in the previous film. Maybe he’s powered up somehow? Or did he not use it in the last film cause he was still a sleepy boy?

A very good freeze frame of the new beam. Gone is the wispy fire from 2014. Now we have a very traditional Millennium/Heisei beam. I kinda liked the more realistic touch of 2014’s breath but just like in the Toho movies as he fights more powerful adversaries, he needs a more powerful attack to stand a chance.

The ‘Beautiful v2’ TV Spot only had three new things :

Another version of the destruction of DC. Ghidorah’s silhouette is way more noticeable in the sky.

We know each head’s facial expression is performed by a different motion capture artist but this is the first really good look at that. Each head has a very distinct expression. The right head looks like it may be maliciously evil, the left seems to be scheming, and the middle of course is the leader of the three. There’s a scary look of intelligence on the middle heads face that is extremely creepy and off putting.

Close up shot of Godzilla marching towards Ghidorah in the climax of the film.

What did you all think of the TV spots? Is there something that I missed in my breakdown?

'Godzilla King of the Monsters' Beautiful TV Spot - Highest Quality and Breakdown

Normally we reserve breakdowns for full length trailers but this TV Spot is a special case. Coming in at a full minute long, this is almost a miniature trailer 3 and gives so much new footage that it will make your eyes pop out of your head. Check it out!

Normally we reserve breakdowns for full length trailers but this TV Spot is a special case. Coming in at a full minute long this is almost a miniature trailer 3 and gives so much new footage that it will make your eyes pop out of your head. Check it out!

So much to unpack in this trailer so let’s just get started:

Rodan! This shot was in the previous TV spot but I didn’t post about that one so let me just say how stunning this is here. Rodan is after that Super X jet thing.

Ghidorah! This shot is from the second trailer and is of Ghidorah awakening in the Antarctic. I still really love the lightning charge effect as it goes up his necks.

Mothra! Of course this is a reused shot from the very first trailer. The CG is definitely more complete this time around and it looks beautiful. This isn’t the last shot from the first trailer used in this TV spot either. I’m actually really digging how they are only really giving brief before and after add ons to scenes we sw in the other trailers. Really keeps the rest of the movie hidden.

Oh my! It took me way longer than I’d like to admit to realize they were making a “Lions, Tigers and Bears! Oh My!” Wizard of Oz reference and that is why ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ is the song in the TV spot. This is Bradley Whitford who is playing a scientist who was described in the set reports as a Rick from ‘Rick and Morty’ type character. not sure how I’ll feel about that by the end but…

Here is that mountain Titan from the second trailer and other TV spot. This is the Titan in Germany as you can see in the bottom left corner. Also there are some rumors that this one is called Methuselah who in biblical history supposedly lived to the age of 969. Very interesting.

Kyle Chandler definitely seems to be shaping up to be the main character of the film. He gets several really good one liners in this TV Spot.

An extension of a shot from the earlier trailers. Ghidorah is looking for something after landing in the Fenway Park stadium in Boston.

Trailer 1 shot with finished CG again. This time it’s much easier to tell that this is in Fenway Park. Looks like he found who he was looking for.

This is the “Oh Shit” shot from the previous trailer but now with context. Madison see’s that Ghidorah has found her and is absolutely not okay with that. I think that this is followed by the shot from the first trailer when Madison is running away from the gravity bolts.

Same shot from trailer two of the scorpion/spider Titan rising in the desert somewhere. I never noticed the Monarch logo on the truck until now.

And now for probably my two favorite shots from the TV Spot. Ghidorah cackles from atop the volcano Rodan popped up from. This shot and the next are so beautiful/wallpaper worthy it is ridiculous. I don’t think I ever in my lifetime would find Ghidorah legitimately terrifying but this movie is proving me wrong.

Love the imagery and symbolism here. Where is your Godzilla now?

Trailer one shot again but now we get to see this from the ground level.

As we say all the time on the cast this is wonderful boots on the ground sequence with the G-Team trying to save some kids from being blown away from Rodan’s passing. Very scary imagery.

Horrified by the destructive power of Rodan.

Our first really good look at Rodan’s face as the military tries to shoot him in it. I’m a huge fan of how they designed his jawline to make it always look like he has an evil grin going on. The ancient civilizations seeing this would have definitely added some demonic lore to his legend just on this fact alone.

Well folks Idon’t think Mothra is getting out of this film alive. Not really surprising since she usually dies in any movie she is in but this pretty much confirms it. We get a really good look at her colors in this shot and she is definitely beautiful.

“Mr. Godzilla, I don’t feel so good…”

Shot of Ghidorah awakening for the first time in the Antarctic. You can see the bits of ice on his tail still and of course the snowstorm kind of givens it away too.

“This time we join him!” Very cool line and it lines up with the very heroic Godzilla the MonsterVerse is going for. I wonder how they are going to explain why Kong and Goji are going to fight since they are pretty much both the good guys in this universe.

Mothra Larva shot from trailer one. Madison really seems like she is going to have a connection to a lot of the Titans.

Mid-air collision of Ghidorah and Rodan incoming. I’m pretty sure this takes place right after the flashing Ghidorah shot and the Rodan jet chase.

While I don’t think Rodan is going to die here I do believe that Ghidorah is going to win this fight very easily.

Actually the next shot shows Rodan having the upper hand. Maybe it won’t be so easy after all.

Godzilla says hello to the tiny humans on the sub. I love the rain pouring off of Godzilla in this shot.

“Excuse me can you point me in the direction of the three-headed dragon?”

Godzilla descends back into the water and we get an amazing look at his new dorsal plates. I liked the 2014 spikes but these just scream Godzilla to me.

Quick look at the rounded tail slapping back into the water as he swims away. This is one of the design changes I am not really a fan of. Godzilla had a rounded tail throughout most of the films but honestly I like the aesthetic of the pointed tail a lot more.

Serizawa gets up close and personal with a presumably injured Godzilla. This is an extention of the Godzilla lair shots from the other trailers.

Is that a practical Godzilla snout? if not that’s some really impressive CG.

Let me tell you about my best friend! The military charges with Godzilla towards the final confrontation with Ghidorah in Boston.

Madison seems to be standing in the destroyed Fenway Park watching Godzilla approach. Did she call him here somehow and accidentally get Ghidorah first? Hmmmm…

This looks like it would be the perfect place for the new Godzilla theme to play.

Surprisingly this is the first shot we have of Godzilla and Ghidorah actually fighting one another. This is Boston again and I love that Mike is continuing Gareth’s trend of showing the monster fights from the human perspective. I’m sure we will still get the big sweeping battle shots but these really ground the film and make the Titans seem huge.

During these last few shots we get the coolest line in the trailer, “This is Godzilla’s world. We just live in it.” That pretty much sums up the theme of this movie that Mike seems to be going for. Humans are no longer the dominant species of planet earth.

Also glad to see the charging effect is back again from 2014. Also something to note is that this shot does not link up with the next as the TV spot would like you to think. This shot is definitely from the Antarctic battle hinted at in the last trailer. Note the snow.

And of course we end on the call to arms shot from trailer one.

And that’s about it folks! We are still expecting one more full trailer to drop before the movie releases so keep an eye out for at least one more breakdown to be on the way. What did you guys think of the new TV spot?

'Godzilla: King of the Monsters' Trailer 1 Breakdown

Time to go shot-by-shot and pick apart the trailer for all of the little details we can grab. Enjoy this full breakdown of the first trailer for ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters!’

Sorry I'm a bit later on this article than I originally planned but I needed some time to process this amazing trailer. I haven't done one of these shot by shot breakdowns in awhile but I imagine I will be doing this for all of the 'Godzilla: King of the Monsters' trailers moving forward so look forward to those. For now, enjoy this breakdown of the amazing Comic Con trailer for Godzilla 2.

Here's our first look at Millie Bobby Brown playing Madison Russell. I love her in Stranger Things and I think she is a great lead for this film and possibly the franchise. She seems to be looking at something scary...

Well that's definitely a scary sight! I believe this is the storm system caused by King Ghidorah simply existing rolling into Boston which is where our climactic battle take place. Run Madison run!

Vera Farminga seems to playing our villain, Dr. Emma Russell, as she discusses humanity being a cancer to our planet. She and whatever organization she works for seem to be trying to wake up all of the monsters that Monarch have been studying. The end goal of this is to allow the Titans (M.U.T.O. has been retired as the catch all phrase for Kaiju in the Monsterverse) to rid the world of humanity. Also did I forget to mention she is Madison's mother?

Kyle Chandler plays Mark Russell (Madison's father) who is seen hanging out with Monarch for the entirety of the trailer. I'm not sure if he works for them or is just using Monarch to get his daughter back. I have heard that he and his wife are divorced which we'll come back to later in this trailer.

Monarch seems to be investigating an underwater temple of some sort. Who's leading this undersea journey?

Dr. Serizawa of course! Ken Watanbe is reprising his role from 'Godzilla (2014)' and is one of two returning cast members.

This ancient civilization seems to have worshiped Godzilla back in the day.

Two more of our new characters! O'Shea Jackson Jr. (who is a huge Godzilla fan) is playing Chief Warrant Officer Barnes who is the leader of G-Team. G-Team sounds like it is the military squad that reports directly to Monarch. Thomas Middleditch plays the government liaison of Monarch. He reports all the details of the Titans to the higher ups in the US government. Wonder what Godzilla is up to?

Mark Russell looks into the depths of the ocean from the bridge of some sort of submarine and is granted a glimpse of the King of the Monsters. The use of color and light in this sequence is beautiful and haunting at the same time.

Love this reflection in the glass shot!

The rest of Monarch look on in awe at Godzilla. Not sure what the context of this scene actually is but man is it pretty.

Sally Hawkins is back as Dr. Vivienne Graham and is the other returning character form 'Godzilla (2014).' Interestingly it doesn't look like Dr. Serizawa is with them on the sub. Wonder where he is?

Ladies and gentlemen I give you our first look at King Ghidorah aka Monster Zero. He is currently frozen in ice in the Antarctic and is dormant. Judging from the rest of the trailer I don't expect him to be here long.

Madison seems to be traveling with whatever this evil organization is called. Note that Charles Dance is here too and is probably the leader of the organization. They are definitely looking up at Ghidorah.

So this shot is interesting because it is of San Francisco. I don't think we are going to see Godzilla destroy San Fran again so I'm betting on this being some sort of flashback. Why would they need to flashback? Well I have a theory that we'll get to later.

Mothra cocoon! Love the blue lighting again! man there sure is a lot of Blue in this trailer (for the "good" monsters only it seems).

Mothra is the most different looking of all of the Titans we have seen thus far. I'm not 100% sold on the small eye but I will probably grow to like it after we get to see the whole design.

That's an interesting skin texture you've got there Mothra.

Godzilla rising from the water will never not be cool! You also get a good first look at the different dorsal fin design but more on that in a second.

There's our big boy! Michael Dougherty really did change the dorsal fins and they look way better than the 2014 design. Michael seems to have gone back to the more maple leafy look of the Toho movies and upped their size by a bunch. I really didn't have a big problem with the 2014 dorsal plates but I do like these a lot better.

Whoa he glows a lot more when he uses his breath. I love it!

This was the first image we ever saw of this film and man is it beautiful in motion. His breath has gotten a huge upgrade from the previous film! Also note the sub that was previously viewing him in the water on the left.

Mothra unfurls her wings in probably the most beautiful shot in the trailer. She looks so regal and really gives off that goddess feeling. If you look closely you can see Mothra's head and eyes in this shot as well.

Her wingspan is huge! I read the stats on the viral marketing page but seeing it is a whole other thing. She is going to need to be this big to stack up against the other threats in this film.

This is the facility studying the Mothra cocoon before she hatches.

A facility at the peak of a volcano explodes and releases one of our other monsters. I think this ties into another shot later in the trailer so bear with me.

Rodan is free! I love the smoldering ember look they gave to his wings and I am super happy that he looks ripped straight from a Toho film. The thing that looks like a second Rodan in this picture actually is an advanced plane that I'm guessing G-Team uses. I spotted it later in the trailer as well.

As I said with his design, this is ripped straight out of a Toho film! Rodan simply flying over a city and it being blown away (akin to a nuclear blast) is exactly the imagery I have always wanted to see with modern special effects.

I believe this is Madison running desperately away from Ghidorah's gravity beams! I believe this sequenece follows a shot later in the trailer.

Nice little nod to John Carpenter's 'The Thing'! That movie took place at facility #31 in the Antarctic and Ghidorah's facility is #32. Also these are the evil organization's soldiers storming the facility.

Family photo of our main characters and there seems to be an older brother in the picture. Hey remember how I said that I had a theory about the shot of San Francisco earlier in the trailer? I wonder if the son died in the San Fran attack in 2014 and it caused Emma and Mark to get a divorce. The death of her child could be the reason Emma wants to wipe humanity off the earth via Titan. Just a theory for now.

Things get nuts when Ghidorah is flying around. Not sure if this is a gravity beam or just a random bolt of lightning but regardless Ghidorah is the cause.

Madison seems to be in a spot of Ghidorah trouble in this scene but it appears to be taking place in a house. Her house in Boston is a safe bet.

Lava temple! We see this place later in the trailer but judging off it's design and it's location inside of a volcano, I'm guessing this is a temple devoted to Rodan. The movie is pulling from various mythologies and stating that the Titans are the truth behind many of the mythological creatures in our real world. Rodan is Quetzalcoatl so the mayan/aztech temple makes all sorts of sense.

This is probably that explosion we saw earlier at the peak of the volcano. Rodan awakens!

One of the most foreboding shots in the trailer, Ghidorah and Rodan are clearly apocalyptic events and have completely wiped out Boston. The visuals are once again stunning.

Ok I'm pretty sure this is in the same sequence of Madison running away from the gravity beams tearing apart the Antarctic facility. Ghidorah has a very nightmare inducing look in his eye. Get out of there Madison!

Rodan takes out some fighter jets in what will be one of the more thirilling sequences in the movie. Very cool brief look at Rodan's mouth/beak in this shot (love the teeth).

Rodan skims the water while fighting the jets and leaves burning wreckage in his wake.

Ghidorah has arrived and he is huge! if you look close enough at the tiny blue light you will see that it is the G-Team plane from earlier. Not sure how long it will last against that! I really love the glowing eyes and his wingspan is something Rodan and Mothra must be jeaslous of.

"Long Live the King." I think he's talking about Ghidorah not Godzilla.

Brief glimpse of Rodan's head. He has the two horns flowing back just like the original Toho design. I love how his silhouette is instantly recognizable.

Seeing something so big move so fast is scary!

Wait somebody is in that lava temple that explodes? Who is it?

Madison looks up as jets fly into what I'm assuming is Boston. These three final shots of her and Godzilla clearly flow together.

Hmm so Serizawa is the one in the lava temple? He wasn't on the sub earlier so maybe he doesn't get out before the bomb goes off.

This is Mothra using her "Blinding God Rays" as described in the viral marketing.

Madison smiling at Godzilla's arrival. I think this takes places before the shot of the jets flying over her.

A king's arrival is never silent. Godzilla leads an army of jets into the storm to fight Ghidorah!

Wow that was one heck of a trailer! We got so much more from it than I expected and I think I speak for all Godzilla fans when I say the wait was worth it. We've got 10 month's until the movie releases and I can't wait for the marketing to kick into high gear again. I leave you with the first poster for the film!

How excited are you for the movie now that we've gotten the first trailer?

All aboard the hype train everybody! Yesterday, in prep for their San Diego Comic Con presentation on Saturday, Legendary launched the viral marketing campaign for the sequel to 'Godzilla (2104)' and gave us a bunch of juicy new details about our three main monsters: Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah. We also got some new images including a look at the official title card for the movie. Also somebody snuck a look at the official trailer classification and got us a runtime for the trailer premiering on Saturday! Lots of info to digest folks so let's get to it!

First thing we got other than a tweet by @monarchsciences was a brief teaser clip featuring Millie Bobby Brown attempting to get a hold of Monarch. Things don't sound like they are going well with whoever picked up the radio and you can clearly hear some sort of roar overlapping the sounds of screaming.

Next thing we got was the official viral marketing website (monarchsciences.com) which is a very cool ARG type site. There are Monarch symbols all over the globe and a few of them can be licked on which reveal a massive info dump of details into what monarch knows about the big 3 main Titans in this new movie. It appears Monarch has been studying these new dormant creatures for a very long time. Some people have already broken through the next clearance level so I will be posting to Let's break them down one by one:

RODAN

The Monarch research base studying Rodan is located in Mexico and states the following:

Within a Monarch containment facility atop the active Isla de Mona volcano, a mysterious Titan lies in pyrostasis within the restless magma. The legends speak of it as the “Fire Demon” or “The One Born of Fire”, but a simpler name echoes through the ancient temples of volcanically active regions: “Rodan”.
A volcanic internal combustion system of magma flows throughout a body covered in rock-like scales that act as geothermal armor. While much larger in size, Rodan has a skeletal structure similar to that of a Pteranodon - one of the earliest vertebrates known to have developed the power of flight. Just as Kong is king of the primates, Rodan may have once been king of the skies.
Because of the extreme temperatures within this particular containment facility, current lab equipment can’t function properly. As a result, thermal heat signatures on the creature are impossible to collect, and Monarch detection crews conducted cardiograms via aerial satellite for life sign detection and verification. Much like the volcano that incubates it, Rodan is alive but dormant.
Rodan’s wings are wrapped around its body in stasis, but our cryptos estimate a wingspan big enough to create a sonic thunderclap capable of leveling entire cities as it flies overhead. RF-Capture scans reveal that Rodan’s skin is not made of rock, but does have an outer dermis of sharp volcanic sediment collected from centuries of dormancy. Sci-ops theorizes the vulcanized appearance of its skin may be an evolutionary trait developed as a form of camouflage against mountain or large rock formations. Truly, a Titan forged in fire.

Rodan sounds so freaking cool! I love that they are really making him out to be a villain or at least a force of destruction. I don't see Godzilla and him getting along like the old days.

MOTHRA

Mothra can be found in China and the research data says:

From erased Nazca lines to the hidden Temple of the Moth, the name “Mothra” is woven throughout the most secret mythologies of our planet. The folklore and fairy tales tell of a winged creature of blinding light, an angel of the clouds whose god-like luminescence has the power to shatter the sky.
Ancient spirit tablets discovered in the mountain jungles of the Yunnan Province portray a giant winged alpha of the Lepidoptera order. In all of our findings, human civilization is pictographically shown in poses that imply deification of the so-called “Queen of the Monsters”, suggesting the creature was once a benign part of the natural order.
When Monarch containment crews discovered the live Titan chrysalis within the Chinese myth site, Dr. Emma Russell was quickly dispatched to closely monitor the creature that lay dormant within it. A quickening sonar pulse suggests the creature is awakening. If she ever emerges from her ancient slumber, a superspecies that once illuminated the sky will be reborn as Mothra.
Pupal DNA samples suggest a remarkable, multi-stage evolution. On reaching adulthood, Mothra’s gigantic thorax is capable of emitting beta-wave bioluminescence which can be projected through the intricate patterns on its wings and weaponized into blinding ‘god rays’. As one of the deadliest and most beautiful natural phenomena in Earth’s history, no wonder this devastating guardian angel was worshipped as a goddess by the ancient human civilizations blessed to witness her.

That cave painting of Mothra looks super weird but the last picture looks like the traditional silhouette. Also the look we got at last Comic Con made her look like the traditional Mothra shape. The descriptor of "Queen of the Monsters" is a very nice touch.

GHIDORAH

Monster Zero is located in the Antarctic and we get a lot of terrifying hints with this info:

From the Hydra to the Rainbow Serpent, myth was the compass that led us to the resting place of the three-headed Titan. A name, unspoken through millennia of whispered nightmares. A living extinction event, named “the one who is many”. We call it Monster Zero.
At a Monarch containment facility deep in the frozen tundra of Antarctica, a three-headed winged serpent of ancient yet unknown origin lies frozen within a glacial tomb of ice. This is without question the largest superspecies ever discovered, easily dwarfing Godzilla at a height of over five-hundred feet tall.
Cranial scans reveal a divergent frontal lobe density in the brains of the three heads, denoting each head has disparate levels of cognitive functions, and possibly even independent thought.
Monster Zero’s dermal layer is gilded with trace amounts of aurum (See Ark Record # 73.126). Metallurgical studies theorize the scales act as a conductor capable of carrying bioelectrical currents through the creature’s body. Injuries have been discovered on several locations on the beast’s body, reminiscent of claw and scorch marks. Exo-Forensics are currently investigating. Muscle tendons on the wings are so hyper-tensile that their massive aerodynamics could generate hurricane-force winds when in flight. Coupled with its body’s electro-receptor molecular biology capable of conducting electrical currents, water vapor in the air would be heated at extreme levels creating its own localized storm system as it travels. Simply put, if Monster Zero were to fly again, the stratosphere would be torn open by an otherworldly tempest of thunder and lightning our sky has never seen. Cryptolinguistics has analyzed translations of every worldwide case study of Monster Zero in the Monarch database across tens of thousands of years. The ancients called it Ghidorah.

Ghidorah is HUGE! Also I love all of the little details in regards to how it is going to to rip apart the atmosphere if it flies again. Last little note is that it appear the three heads having different personalities is confirmed.

Also on the viral site you can find Godzilla swimming towards the west coast of America. Someone online did the math and he should arrive right around the time of the trailer drop. There are a ton of other research sites on the globe that may have hints to some of the other monsters lying dormant in the MonsterVerse but we'll have to wait for more of them to unlock.

TRAILER DETAILS

'Godzilla: King of the Monsters' First Images Revealed!!!!

I have no words to describe the awesomeness that is this first image of the sequel to Godzilla 2014. This is glorious.

I have no words to describe the awesomeness that is this first image of the sequel to Godzilla 2014. This is glorious.

These two images were revealed exclusively through Entertainment Weekly and include a couple of noteworthy quotes from Michael Dougherty.

“The world is reacting to Godzilla in the same way we would react to any other terrifying incident, in that we are overreacting,” says director Michael Dougherty, whose previous credits include the horror movie Krampus. Godzilla hasn’t been seen since that destructive finale, “but there’s paranoia and endless speculation about whether he is the only one out there or whether we’re threatened by others like his kind.”

None of this is new information but the next quote is more interesting.

“Rodan’s been kind of a sidekick character, but I’ve always had a soft spot for him” says Dougherty. “In a lot of ways he’s more powerful than Godzilla. He’s like this winged A-bomb. I think we’ve done him justice.” But let’s not forget Godzilla himself, who reveals he has the ability to exhale “atomic breath.” Can Dougherty expand on that description? “Not without giving away too much,” he laughs. “But it takes place at a very key moment and it’s a sort of call to arms.”

Rodan being mentioned so much is intriguing becasue I actually assumed he was going to get the short end of the stick when it came to screen time in the film. Also "call to arms"? I think we can safely assume a team up is going to happen to combat Ghidorah.

"The 2019 film’s human characters include Dr. Emma Russell (Vera Farmiga), a scientist working for the beastie-hunting organization Monarch, and her daughter Madison, who is portrayed by Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown. The pair are kidnapped by what Dougherty describes as “a mysterious organization, with their own plans for the creatures.”

Evil organization to counteract Monarch?! The plot thickens!

Expect to learn more info as we get closer to Godzilla's Hall H presentation next Saturday.

'Godzilla 2' - Filming Begins Today! Possible Title Change?!

Well fellow Giant Monster fans the day has finally come! 'Godzilla 2' begins filming today out in Atlanta and the production was officially announced via a press release. Not only do we get our first plot description but we also may have some trouble brewing with the title that Michael Dougherty and Legendary have been running with for awhile now.

Check out the press release in its entirety:

Looks like we've got a reimagining of 'Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster' after all! The plot description doesn't really give too much away but it does 100% confirm that Mothra, Rodan, and Ghidorah will all be appearing in the Godzilla sequel and none of them will be saved for 'Godzilla vs Kong.' It sounds like we are in for one heck of a monster bash come  March 2019.

Several news sites noticed that the press release does not refer to the film by the previously announced title King of the Monsters and one of them reached out to Legendary/Warner Bros. to get some clarification as to what it all means. Jeff Sneider from The Tracking Board sent out the following tweet:

This is very odd since we have had several casting announcements that have used the title King of the Monsters and the director himself has confirmed the title on multiple occasions. In fact his official twitter page still has him listed as the director of 'Godzilla: King of the Monsters.' I'm honestly not sure what to think of all this new title stuff. Hopefully we get some sort of official information sooner rather than later.

What do you think of the plot description? Do you think they really changed the title? What would you like it to be called if they did?

New 'Godzilla 2' and 'Pacific Rim: Maelstrom' Titles Revealed!

In a shocking turn of events, Legendary Pictures revealed the new titles for the hotly anticipated sequels to 'Godzilla' and 'Pacific Rim' in a hirinmg announcement press release. This is definitely an unorthodox way of making an announcement and could mean these new titles are simply working titles but this is still exciting.

Here is the press release in full:

Legendary today announced the hiring of three veteran production executives to its feature film operations including Herbert W. Gains, who has been named EVP of Physical Production, Valerie Flueger Veras who has been named SVP of Post- Production and Sara Flamm who will take on the SVP Physical Production role. The new additions were announced by Mary Parent, Legendary’s Vice Chairman of Worldwide Production.
“Herb comes to us with a tremendous body of experience working alongside some of the most prolific filmmakers in our industry,” said Parent. “His strong business acumen and commitment to supporting the vision of storytellers with preeminent production resources makes him an excellent complement to our team here at Legendary.” Gains will report directly to Parent, effective immediately.
Best known for his work as Executive Producer on such films as Warner Bros’ The Judge and Watchmen, as well as the recently released Jack Reacher: Never Go Back from Paramount, Gains’ responsibilities will include overseeing production of Legendary’s feature film slate including such highly anticipated projects as Pacific Rim: Uprising, Pokemon’s Detective Pikachu and Godzilla: King of Monsters. Gains will also work closely with the post-production team insuring that the filmmaker’s vision remains intact through production to final distribution.
“I’m extremely gratified to be entrusted with this unique opportunity,” said Gains. “Legendary’s evolution over the past decade has been nothing short of remarkable. I am proud to take a key role in the company’s continued growth in feature film production and excited by the potential of its established franchises and the diverse slate of films currently in development.”
Reporting to Gains at Legendary, is Valerie Flueger Veras, who will assume the role of SVP of Post-Production. “I have had the good fortune of working closely with Valerie on multiple films over the last few years,” said Parent. “She brings experience from all aspects of filmmaking to the post-production process and really understands how to support filmmakers whether they are making an intimate character drama or a big VFX driven tentpole.”
Flueger Veras is a seasoned executive who has lead the post-production efforts on some of the most critically-acclaimed films of the last decade including Oscar-nominated feature films, The Revenant, Selma and Nebraska. As SVP of Post-Production, Flueger Veras will immediately begin overseeing post on the upcoming Spring action film, Kong: Skull Island.
“I’m thrilled to be joining Legendary,” said Flueger Veras. “In addition to having an opportunity to re-team with Mary Parent who I have long respected, I am extremely excited to be working alongside such an imaginative and highly respected team of professionals and can’t wait to dive in on this truly iconic slate of films.”
Rounding out Legendary’s production team is Sara Flamm, who will step into the SVP of Physical Production role and will also report to Gains. “Sara brings with her a wealth of experience working on the types of genre films that Legendary is best known for,” said Parent. “We’re excited to be adding her expertise to this skilled new team.”
Most recently Flamm worked alongside Gains as Unit Production Manager on on Jack Reacher: Never Go Back and the upcoming film Geostorm. She has also worked as Production Supervisor on numerous hit films including The Judge as well as comic adaptations, Green Lantern and Legendary’s own Watchmen. In Flamm’s new role she has already begun work on the production of Pacific Rim: Uprising, currently shooting in Australia.
“Having worked with Legendary in the past, I’ve long admired their focus on delivering a truly elevated cinematic experience to their audiences,” said Flamm. They’ve had an incredible history of blockbuster films, and I’m looking forward to being a part of this team’s continued success.”

Did you catch them in that wall of text? If not it appears that 'Pacifc Rim: Uprising' is our new title instead of Maelstrom and the temporary title of 'Godzilla 2'  has been replaced by the much cooler sounding 'Godzilla: King of Monsters'.

I'm not a big fan of the new Pacific Rim title since Maelstrom was such a unique name but I guess I'll just have to get used to it.  'Godzilla: King of Monsters' on the other hand is awesome! It's a nice call back to the americanization of the orginal 'Gojira' and I think it will be a very buzz worthy name that will get alot of attention. As I said above it is quite possible that these are both still working titles so take them with a grain of salt until we see them on some official marketing materials.

What do you think of the new titles?
